I am sure you have heard the phrase, “film photography” a lot recently right? So let’s talk about film photography and why is it important?

Film has become a very popular trend in recent years. But film has been around for a long time.

Longer than any trend or any digital camera. Wedding photography centuries, even decades ago was shot all on film and I truly believe that is why it has such significance in today’s time.

So what is film photography? 

Film photography is photographs on rolls of film that develop in a dark room in order for you to see them with a naked eye. The images are on thin strips or sheets of transparent film base coated on one side with gelatin emulsion, which contains small light-sensitive silver halide crystals.

 Once it is captured inside the camera, it is hidden in a spool and kept safe. It is kept inside until every strip has been exposed to light with a simple click of the shutter. Then the images are ready to reveal!

Now that you know what film photography is, let’s talk about why it is important.

I love the nostalgic look and feel of film, it adds such a richness to my galleries. It allows me to be able to express a little bit deeper what the timeless feel is. Film goes way back from the beginning a camera was even made.

It really takes you back to when your grandparents married, and your parents married, and all the generations before you react brings that authentic look and timeless feel that you can cherish for years to come.
